I must paint! An overwhelming feeling of exuberance bubbles up inside me and says “paint!” Therefore, I am driven to express myself. I paint for pleasure, peace of mind and sometimes necessity.
My paintings are a reflection of who I am and what I love most. Since early childhood, I have found the need to paint and create. My passion still grows and I continue to express myself on just about anything from rocks to walls. The process is magical, freeing and satisfying. Don’t get me wrong, it can also be totally frustrating. The satisfaction comes when I overcome those hurdles and I am filled with a sense of accomplishment.
The inspiration for my work is due to the wonder of nature. The moments I spend photographing stunning landscapes, rich textures or impressive color schemes fuel my desire to create. These photos are used as a reference when painting. I often labor over the images, textures and colors in my mind until, an idea strikes me, then the creation begins. I draw and then paint, using rich heavy body acrylic paints applied with a heavy hand.
When painting, I often have the viewer in mind. I want to create a composition that invites you into the painting, so that you too can have your own personal experience with my work of art.
